Metro Station Call It Quits

According to a report by a website for Townson University in Maryland, Metro Station have revealed that they’ve broken up. The band was going to play the college’s “Tigerfest” on April 25, But the school’s Campus Activities Board were alerted that the band had broken up and wouldn’t be attending the event. A representative for the band confirmed the break-up to Altpress.com.

Universal to Cap Physical CD Prices

Starting this spring, Universal Music Group will introduce their ‘Velocity’ program, which will lower prices for physical CDs ranging from $6-10 suggested retail. The label also plans to release more deluxe versions of albums at higher prices to make up for the difference in profits, while not changing digital pricing.

Hollywood Undead Partners With I Heart Radio

Hollywood Undead have partnered up with iheartradio.com to launch a special digital station titled “Radio Undead” this April.  The band chose hours of music by their favorite artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Deftones, Snoop Dogg, Alkaline Trio and more specifically for “Radio Undead” listeners. In addition to spinning their favorite tunes, “Radio Undead” will announce a massive Hollywood Undead contest that will go live in the coming months.  The station is an iheartradio exclusive and will run for two weeks.

OK Go leave EMI

OK Go have announced that they’ve parted ways with EMI and that they have created their own company  Paracadute. A statement released on behalf of the band reads, “Just as the band saw an opportunity to do something different with their homemade videos, OK Go see untapped potential in the sea change that the music industry is experiencing and believe there are tremendous opportunities for artists capable of managing their own promotion and distribution. The band, who have always controlled their publishing, merchandise, touring, and all other non-recording rights, are parting by mutual agreement with EMI Music.”

Bob Bryar Out Of My Chemical Romance

Drummer Bob Bryar is no longer a member of My Chemical Romance. Guitarist Frank Iero confirmed the split on his blog, writing in part: “As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.”

Cute Is What We Aim For Show Announced

A show featuring Cute Is What We Aim For, the Friday Night Boys and the Bigger Lights has been revealed, set to take place May 13 at Diesel in Pittsburgh. Last August, Cute Is What We Aim For frontman Shaant Hacikyan announced that he would be going solo and as other members of the band announced their departure. It has been talked about that Hacikyan may perform under the Cute Is What We Aim For name with a new lineup.

Jay Reatard Died by Cocaine and Alcohol Overdose

The autopsy results for Memphis, TN, garage-punk prodigy Jay Reatard have been released, concluding that the 29-year-old rocker died by “cocaine toxicity, and that alcohol was a contributing factor,” said Shelby County Medical Examiner Karen E. Chancellor.

Ticketmaster And Live Nation Get Approval

The Department of Justice today said it will require Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. to divest its ticketing assets and license its ticketing software before it can proceed with its proposed $2.5-billion merger with Live Nation Inc. Ticketmaster, based in West Hollywood, is the world’s largest ticketing company. Live Nation is the world’s largest promoter of live concerts. It is located in Beverly Hills.

The Killers have suddenly canceled their tour dates in Asia

The Killers have been forced to cancel their appearances in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul due to unforeseen circumstances.
