The Get Up Kids Break Up

UPDATE The Get Up Kids are not breaking up after this European tour, as has been erroneously announced in some areas of the press.  What was said was that this could be the last set of tour dates for a spell, especially in Europe, as members are splitting off to work on some other projects for a while. Rival Schools Guitarist Leaves Band

Rival Schools have announced that guitarist Ian Love has left the band. From a statement: We regret to announce that our good friend Ian Love has decided to part ways with Rival Schools. He is a tremendous talent who will be missed greatly and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

Augustana Have Broken Up

Augustana have announced that the band are calling it quits. More info on the break-up can be found here. Basically the two original members with me as well, Justin [South] and Jared [Palomar], have parted ways. It’s a sad thing, but it’s been an amicable split and it’s just kinda tough,” Layus reveals. “It’s hard to keep a band together. We had a good run and it was a blast while we could do it, but everybody is good. Everybody is friends. It’s just tough to sustain a business like that.

R.E.M. Calls It Quits

After 30+ years of making music, 15 albums, and over 25 million albums sold, R.E.M. announced today that they are calling it quits. Here’s a message from R.E.M.’s website: “To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band.
