The Decemberists have announced that accordionist/keyboardist Jenny Conlee had been diagnosed with breast cancer. According to a release from the band, she will miss their May and June shows. Get Up Kids Frontman To Write And Record Solo Album In May
Get Up Kids frontman Matt Pryor has announced that he’s started work on a new solo album called ‘May Day.’ The title comes from his plan to write, record and complete work on the album all within this month. He has set up a Kickstarter page for fans to pledge to help fund the release in exchange for vinyl test pressings, exclusive T-shirts and more. An unreleased solo album called ‘Still There’s A Light‘ will also be available to fans who contribute to the campaign. You can hear a song from that album here.

Deftones To Release New Album In Early 2012
Deftones are planning to begin work on their new album this summer and are looking at an early 2012 release. In a interview, frontman Chino Moreno says, We’re going to have a month off, but in that month, we’re talking about going in and starting to write again, maybe even two or three weeks in a rehearsal spot just recording ideas and keeping it going. So if all goes well, hopefully we’ll have some product for early next year.
