Live Nation and Ticketmaster moved a step closer

The proposed merger between concert giants Live Nation and Ticketmaster moved a step closer to reality as both companies’ shareholders have thrown their support behind the union, Billboard reports. The merger is still awaiting approval from the U.S. government.

Evanescence Heading To The Studio

Evanescence will be headed to the studio next month to record their third album. Announcement was made just after We Are The Fallen (former Evanescence members Ben Moody, John LeCompt, and Rocky Gray, along with female vocalist Carly Smithson) announced they had finished the recording for their debut album.

Warner Bros. drops Gallows

The Guardian is reporting that Warner Bros. have dropped hardcore act Gallows due to low album sales. The article states the band’s last album only sold 20,000 copies in the U.K. and 50,000 worldwide.

Slayer Cancel World Tour

Just months after Slayer postponed a handful of Canadian tour dates due to singer/bassist Tom Araya’s back problems. The band has been forced to Cancel all 49 dates of their U.S. and European Carnage Tour. “Tom gave various medical treatments more than a fair shot,” Slayer’s manager Rick Sales explained in a statement. “But they just haven’t handled the problem, so he’s biting the bullet and is scheduled for back surgery at the end of this month.”

Atreyu drummer to play first solo show

Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller will perform as a frontman for the first time as he plays his debut solo show on Jan. 14 at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California. Saller will be performing his own songs with a backing band that includes Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin, Aquabats guitarist Ian Fowles and Dead Country drummer Jarrod Alexander.
