Jay Reatard’s Death Might Be A Homicide

According to a report by a local news affiliate, police in Memphis are now investigating the death of garage-punk singer Jay Reatard as a homicide. Reatard was found by police at 3:30 a.m. yesterday morning. Authorities are now reportedly looking for a suspect and offering a reward of up to $1,000 for leads. Tips can be submitted here.

Jay Reatard found dead at the age of 29

Matador Records has confirmed that garage-punk singer Jay Reatard has passed away. Jay died in his sleep last night. Matador, commented, “We are devastated by the death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., aka Jay Reatard. Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.”
