In Memoriam: Sex Pistols Manager Malcolm McLaren

Former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren passed away this morning in New York following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 64. Born in North London, U.K., McLaren was an art-school dropout and clothing designer when he began managing the New York Dolls in the early ’70s. By 1975, he had become manager of the Sex Pistols and rose to fame when the band’s anti-establishment anthem “God Save The Queen” (which he provided vocals for) took the top spot on the U.K. charts during Queen Elizabeth II’s 1977 silver jubilee celebration.
