Deftones‘ bassist Chi Cheng has passed away at age 42. Cheng was injured in an automobile accident in 2008, The accident left Cheng in a several-year coma. He passed away last night at 3 AM. Deftones, Dillinger Escape Plan, Serj Tankian, Lamb Of God Announced For Slipknot’s Knotfest
Slipknot will be curating a new festival Knotfest, and the first year’s lineup will feature Deftones, Lamb Of God, Dillinger Escape Plan, Serj Tankian, Gojira and more. It is a two-day, multi-city event, with shows on Friday, Aug. 17 in Council Bluffs, IA at Mid America Motorplex and Saturday, Aug. 18 in Somerset, WI at Somerset Amphitheater. Tickets go on sale June 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
Chino Moreno (Deftones) Form New Project
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has formed a new band with Aaron Harris, Clifford Meyer and Jeff Caxide of ISIS. The project will be called Palms. There album is already recorded and will be released this summer via Ipecac Recordings.

After three years in a coma, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng has started to emerge from a coma. He is able to lift his leg on command. Cheng was injured in November 2008 car accident where he was ejected from the vechile.
