Bassist Sean O’Donnell Leaves Yellowcard

0

Bassist Sean O’Donnell has left Yellowcard. Read his statement below:

In April of 2010, the 5 of us met up in Los Angeles to play some music, hang out, and talk about the future of the band. I felt privileged to be invited to get to do so, and it was an amazing couple of days. Fast forward a year and a half and we’ve put out two full lengths, shot 6 music videos, and traveled to almost 30 countries. It’s been an exhilarating time for all of us in the band and some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my music career. Which is why I’m sad today to let you all know that I am leaving Yellowcard.

This is not one of those ugly messy band member departures that seem to plague rock music. This is a personal decision, and it’s mine. Simple as I can put it, playing in a band that is on a full time touring schedule demands a balancing act of work and family that I can no longer pull off and still remain happy. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision to make, but usually the really important ones never are.

While I feel confident in my decision, I know I’m walking away from a lot. I feel truly blessed to have been invited to such a close knit family, one that I was welcomed into completely. I’ll miss the guys, I’ll miss the shows, I’ll miss making all those ridiculous YC sessions videos. I’ll miss all of the love I got from the thousands of fans all over the world. When my former band Reeve Oliver was on tour with Yellowcard in 2005, I said onstage that all I could ever hope for was for us to attract fans who were as supportive as Yellowcard fans. I meant it then, but now I realize the full impact of the love and support you guys give. It’s immense, it’s real, and it’s completely necessary for this band to survive and to thrive.

Yellowcard has made great rock records before me, and will no doubt continue to do so without me. I will now continue on in the role that I have held for the last 13 years, that of a devoted fan.

Thanks for your time, and thanks for reading this,

Sean O’Donnell

Black Sabbath Continuing Without Drummer Bill Ward

Yesterday Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward posted a statement threatening to withdraw from the band’s reunion plans due to “unsignable” contracts. Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler posted the following statement today:

We were saddened to hear yesterday via Facebook that Bill declined publicly to participate in our current Black Sabbath plans… we have no choice but to continue recording without him although our door is always open… We are still in the UK with Tony. Writing and recording the new album and on a roll… See you at Download!!!

Drummer Justin Salinas and keyboardist Dusty Riach No Longer In The Word Alive

0

Frontman Tyler “Telle” Smith confirmed the rumors that both drummer Justin Salinas and keyboardist Dusty Riach have left the Word Alive. Read his comment he made on absolutepunk.net below.

I think it’s quite the compliment when people say our drums were programmed or even triggered. Justin is one of my best friends, and extremely close with us but yes he decided to call it a day with touring. We aren’t missing a beat though, we have a great drummer who is going to take what we had planned and truly help make the drums take another leap forward. We’re not delaying our record, not canceling any shows and are moving forward as always. Every band goes through member changes, but the reality is Tony Zack and myself have written 90% of everything with most of the instruments post-Empire. Dusty left the band weeks ago so that is true, for much different reasons but all of those elements will be there. The new album has a ton of electronic components that we’re trying and Tony and Zack did a great job at taking it up a notch in my opinion.

Evan Pharmakis (Guitars, Vocals) and Chris Campbell (Drums) Leave Vanna

0

Evan Pharmakis (guitars, vocals) and Chris Campbell (drums) have left Vanna. Pharmakis has been replaced by guitarist Joel Pastuszak. Read the statement below:

In the world of music members in bands make choices every day to move onto other things, be it new projects, start families, or begin a different career path. The internet is abound with drama and opinions when this happens, but the fact is that this is a part of everyday life in the music industry. These hard choices usually affect the band members’ left behind as well as the label, management and most importantly the fans. Most rise up and charge on. This is the case with Boston’s own Vanna. Evan Pharmakis (guitarist/vocalist)and Chris Campbell (drummer) have chosen to part ways with the band and move forward. They have decided that the touring life isn’t for them any longer and do not wish to continue doing so. This doesn’t come as a surprise to the band or those close to us. Evan has been dealing with this choice for almost a year now, and Chris has missed a few tours the past few months as well in order to work and focus on home. They both have family obligations as well as financial reasons for leaving their spots behind and everyone in our camp stands behind and supports them in making these very hard decisions. They feel that staying home and no longer touring with the band is the best possible decision for them as well as us.

“We are happy that they have been honest and have given us the opportunity to find people that want it too. We want to be on the road and playing music with people who are in it 100% and love this with all their heart. We never want to hold anyone back and wish them both the best in their future endeavors. With that being said, we will be moving forward on the best year of touring this band has ever seen or done.

We’ve added new Guitarist/Vocalist Joel Pastuszak to the fold and couldn’t be happier with him. Joel has played and toured in many New England based bands . We’ve actually been working with Joel for quite a while, knowing Evan’s situation, and can’t wait for all of you to meet and hear/see him on the road with us. He’s already very much a part of the family.

As far as drummers, we have fill-ins lined up and we are ready to get out on the road to see all of you and keep this non-stop train moving, as there is no way we’ll be slowing down. We are currently headlining Europe and the United Kingdom, followed by the Artery Sick Tour in the U.S., then right into Vans Warped Tour this summer with writing and recording plans in the future as well.

We know this will come as a surprise to a lot of you, but just understand this, Vanna is an idea, a passion, a movement – it’s not about the people, it’s about the music and love for what we do, and believe us, we have more passion and love for this now than we ever have. If you believe in the music, if it means something to you, and always has, don’t stop the support, keep it up. We need you now more than ever. Come out to a show, meet Joel, hang with us and let’s keep this community alive and well. We love you guys with our whole hearts! This is a big year, be a part of it with us.
